Do you feel your relationship with your teen is not stable or secure? Do you feel like something is bothering your child, but they won’t tell you? Is your child not able to express their feelings? Is your child experiencing behavioral problems at home or school?
Many children and teens have problems that affect how they feel, act, or learn. Therapy can help with these issues; your child can talk and learn how to work out their problems in treatment. I can help them cope better, communicate better, and do better. This will not only help your child be happier, but it will also help to strengthen your relationship.
Play therapy is an approach that allows individuals to explore their lives and freely express repressed thoughts and emotions through play. It is not just for kids; teenagers and even adults can benefit from play therapy.
Therapeutic play occurs in a safe place; it feels comfortable, there are few rules or limits to encourage freedom of expression. This also allows me to observe and assess the individual’s decision-making process, choices, body language, etc.
Another benefit of play therapy for children is the learning opportunities; when a child is playing, they are learning, I can take that time to introduce coping skills, teach them ways to express themselves in healthier ways, become more respectful and empathetic, and discover new and more positive ways to solve problems. This is also an excellent time to gather in-depth information from them; we can explore trauma, anxiety, and other feelings that they may be experiencing but unable to express. Sometimes these feelings manifest as behavioral issues.
Emotional pain puts a strain on all aspects of your life; we can help; we have experience helping individuals, families, children, and adolescents with different therapy modalities and base our practice on a person-centered approach.
